My name is Deb Bundy and I am the elementary school counselor for Echo Hill Elementary. This is my 14th year at Linn-Mar Schools. Previously, I was an elementary counselor for eleven years at Prairie View Elementary in the College Community School District. I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a B.A. in English Education and M.A. in School Counseling.
I enjoy working with young students on the social skills needed for a happy life! Academic work is important, but employers are also looking for people who can get along with coworkers. To build successful relationship skills, I teach lessons once a week in all classrooms to address friendship and empathy, making good choices, staying drug free, emotion-management, and problem-solving. Our elementary school counseling programs across the district use the Second Step curriculum.
I also see students in small groups and individually for specific issues at the request of parents or teachers. I am also the coordinator for NWEA, Iowa Assessments and CogAt testing for our building. When students have academic concerns, I help coordinate services from our Grant Wood AEA staff. If you have concerns about your child’s progress socially or academically, I would be happy to work with you!
