Wow! I have been teaching elementary children for a long time! I have been an elementary teacher since graduating from Mount Mercy College in 1984. I taught my first year in Colorado Springs, Colorado followed by a year of substituting (Pre-Kindergarten through Sixth Grade) in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota. The Air Force took us to Tampa, Florida where I taught fourth grade for two years before moving back to Marion and starting at Indian Creek in 1988. I taught first, second, and third grades at I.C. from 1988-1995. Between 1995 and 2001, I taught first grade at Bowman Woods. I earned my Masters of Arts in Teaching from Coe College in 2001. I have been teaching third grade since returning to Indian Creek in 2001.
With the experience I have had in all the elementary grades I can honestly say that third grade is my favorite! So many new concepts are taught in third grade and students are generally very excited to be at school and are eager to learn.
The best times to contact me are between 7:30-7:45 a.m. and 3:00-3:30 (often times until 4:00 or 4:30) at 447-3288 (My desk phone.) If you leave a message that you’d like to be contacted in the evening, then I’d be glad to give you a call back.
Indian Creek is a special community. I am excited to have the opportunity to share your child with you this year!
