6th grade Science and Math @ Boulder Peak – Mrs. Andrea L. Long
You may contact me two different ways: by email, and/or by phone. My school phone number is 319-447-3181. If I am teaching, the voice mail will answer any calls. Please leave a message and I will return it. I am best reached during the times of 3-3:30 p.m by phone.
E-mail is the easiest way to reach me during the day. I will respond as soon as possible.
If we have a snow day or school is dismissed early, any work that would have been due the day of the dismissal/snow day will be due the next day that we have class.
My educational background includes a BA in Art and Biology from Mt. Mercy College. At the University of Iowa, I continued my education taking classwork to become a teacher in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Science, a MA in Elementary Education including a specialization in Reading, and a middle school endorsement. I have been teaching middle school science for 29 years. During that time I have also taught social studies and/or reading & language. 20 of those years were at Linn-Mar’s Excelsior Middle School. The 2020-2021 school year will be my 30th year of teaching!
Our key words in the classes I teach are: “Be Kind”. 6th grade is full of collaboration experiences, especially in science!
We work together, share, listen to each other and making goals/plans and/or consensus ideas as we learn new material in labs and during instruction. We work on skills learning how to study and review as well.
I look forward to working with you and your child this 2020-2021 school year!
