Debra Barry

I have been teaching in the Linn-Mar School District the past 26 years.  I have had the privilege of teaching every grade K-8th except for 6th grade. My prior teaching experience includes 3 years of middle school Social Studies at Excelsior, 4 years teaching Title Math and 4th Grade at Linn-Grove, and 12 years teaching K-4 at Bowman Woods Elementary.  From 2014-2018, I was one of the Teacher Leadership Program Coordinators, working with coaches and teacher leaders. From 2018-2020, I was an instructional coach at Novak Elementary. Currently, I am teaching 4th grade at Westfield Elementary School.

In 2000, I completed my MA in Social Studies Education at Coe College. My undergraduate education came from The University of Iowa–Go Hawks!! I live in Marion, with my husband, my 13-year-old son, and our chocolate lab, Irish.  In my “free” time I love to write children’s books, visit my local coffee shop, go shoe shopping, and spend time with my family and friends.
