The goal of our Health Offices at Hazel Point and Oak Ridge is to keep kids healthy, in class and learning. We love to check your kids out if they are not feeling well. Our criteria for sending a student home is a temperature of 100.0 and above, vomiting or diarrhea. In the absence of these symptoms we encourage students to return to class. If a student has any of these symptoms they will be sent home and may not return until 24 hours after the vomiting or diarrhea have stopped and the temperature has been under 100.0 without the use of medication. If your student texts you they don’t feel well and want you to come get them, please ask them to come to the Health Office to be evaluated. We will check them over and call you to give you an update. We feel it is just as important to keep kids that aren’t ill in school and learning as it is to keep those who may spread germs out of school until they are better and able to feel like learning again.
Welcome to my page for the Oak Ridge Health Office. It has been my privilege to be the Oak Ridge Middle School Nurse for 4 years. I graduated from Mount Mercy College with my Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. My background has been mainly in Intensive Care and Cardiology. I have 2 children that attend Linn-Mar so you will see me at many events as a spectator and a volunteer. We are proud members of the Linn-Mar Community and wear our red and black with pride! I am excited to work with your children at Oak Ridge and help to address any health concerns that they may have. If you ever need anything at any point in time, please feel free to contact me at the email link or phone number listed above. If I am out of the office, my Health Assistant Maria Taylor will be happy to help you. Please call her at 319-447-3415.
